Since opening Birmingham Central Foodbank in October 2011, we have fed almost 30,000 individuals; sadly we are still a much needed service in our city to those who are in need. We provide short-term assistance to those in need and so a Foodbank voucher entitles the recipient to 3-days’ worth of emergency tinned and dried food up to three times. There are currently nine Foodbanks in the city, with Birmingham Central being one of the largest and busiest. Our aim is to give those in need not just food, but hope; we always offer prayer at the Foodbank and seek to connect them to other services that can help improve their lives.
As the Foodbank is completely reliant on donations, this service would not be possible without the kind support we receive from BCC members, the public, local businesses and other local churches. Giving to Foodbank really does change lives! We would not be able to run this project without the dedication of our amazing volunteers and kind donators of money and food.
Donations of food items can be dropped off at the BCC office reception during the week or in the church foyer before any of services OR at our Permanent Collection Point at Springhill 24/hr Tesco in Hockley.
If you are in need of an emergency food parcel, please contact the help through hardship line on 0808 208 2138 to obtain a food voucher code. For more information about how you can donate, receive a food parcel, and details of our address and opening hours please visit the Foodbank website.
Our Food Bank opening times are:
Tuesday: 9:30am-11:30am
Friday: 10am-1:30pm
We kindly ask that anyone collecting a food parcel arrives no later than 15 minutes before closing. Thank you.
